Childrenswear trends perfect for your indie brand
By: Luke
While some areas of the fashion industry are seeing a drop in figures, there’s one niche that’s experiencing a huge boom. Childrenswear.
A recent study predicts that the global kidswear market is currently worth $1 billion and is expected to reach $1.3 billion by 2024. So if you’re a childrenswear designer or a fashion brand thinking of expanding, the future couldn’t be brighter.
With this in mind, we’ve rounded up three of 2020’s biggest childrenswear trends, to help you produce your most stylish childrenswear collection yet.
Matchy Matchy
Thanks to high street giants such as Next and M&S, matching products are set to be huge next year. But while we’re used to seeing matching sets designed for siblings, this trend will be revived with a massive twist – matching sets for the entire family. From sweatshirts that help you twin with your mini-me to cosy pyjamas for your entire squad, it’s time to focus on garments the whole family can enjoy.
Practicality
Gone are the days of children wearing replicas of adult fashions (think Nike sneakers and leather jackets). Instead childrenswear designers are focusing on comfy, stretchy clothing that allows kids to be kids. So cut back on that denim order and opt for jersey, cotton and viscose that can support children to be active and move freely.
Nature inspired-prints
While children will usually go for clothing that features their favourite TV or book character, nature-inspired prints have recently experienced a resurgence in popularity.
This could be due to recent focus on the environment and veganism or an increased consumer appetite for gender neutral clothing. Whatever the reasons, this is great news for childrenswear designers as nature-inspired designs offer great scope for creativity.
Nature literally provides a whole world of ideas. Your designs could feature prints inspired by the depths of the jungle or the deep blue sea. While botanical or floral prints can be given a modern update with a fresh colour palette.
Perhaps you could even design a vegetable-themed collection to encourage kids to eat their sprouts? Okay, we aren’t saying your new collection could work miracles…
Branding for children’s clothing
When it comes to branding for childrenswear you need:
a bold and bright logo design to help you stand out
cotton labels that are kind to the environment
and super-soft wash labels that don’t irritate the skin
Luckily, we can help you with all three of these important essentials as we work with hundreds of awesome childrenswear brands every year. All you need to do is pop an email to info@gblabels.co.uk and we’ll take care of the rest. We can’t wait to hear your ideas!
