Santa’s almost on his way and the most wonderful time of year is about to begin. But if festive shopping has got you in a flap, don’t panic. We’ve put together an action plan to help you shop local this Christmas, with gift ideas from independent brands and small businesses based in our hometown of Derby.

Project Doughnut

You can’t go wrong with a sweet treat and this Derby-based startup has scrumptious flavours to please even the fussiest eater. We’re super proud to see this local team go from strength to strength and we hope you’ll join us in shopping from their mouthwatering Intu Derby pop up shop. Just make sure you get there early as these delish doughnuts sell out fast.

Mama Meet and Market

Lots of people to buy for and short on inspiration? You need a day out at the Mama Meet and Market, founded by Derby events entrepreneur, Ainsley Gray. With tons of Instagrammable goodies all under one roof you’re sure to leave with a few groaning bags.

The best thing about getting your Christmas shopping done with the Mama Meet and Market? You’re supporting hundreds of family-run indie businesses. To find out more and see where the market is heading to next, follow them on Instagram.

CAD For Fashion

The best Christmas gifts aren’t always something you need to pop under the tree. Experiences make awesome gifts that everyone can enjoy. So if you know someone who loves getting creative or want to treat yourself to a day out, why not buy a workshop ticket or learning session with CAD For Fashion

Solesmith

Christmas isn’t complete without funky socks. Even better if the designs are hand drawn in a Derbyshire workshop. We’re huge fans of Solesmith and their incredible range of bespoke cotton socks which you can personalise to make them even more festive. Winner winner, Christmas Dinner.

Bustler Market

With the modern world becoming more hectic, it’s not always possible to get the family together on Christmas Day. And the reality is, not everyone will be spending the day surrounded by people. That’s why we love events like Bustler Market, Derby’s street food market – where everyone can come together and enjoy some awesome grub.

If arranging Christmas Dinner has you frazzled or you’ll be spending the 25th of December by yourself, why stress about it? Simply call up your family or your chosen family (work mates, gym buddies or the staff from your favourite coffee place will do) and enjoy some festive fun at Bustler on the 20th and 21st of December. Or make a date for 2020. Because foodie vibes can be enjoyed any day of the year.
