Festive fever: top 5 gift wrapping hacks for Christmas 2015

By: Luke

As the festive season is upon us, we’ve put together a definitive list of thrifty gift wrapping hacks for 2015. With GB Labels, Christmas is all wrapped up (we can’t promise this is the last festive pun in this post)!

  1. Just for you

From monogrammed wrapping paper to photo-personalised gift tags, personalised wrapping is the stand out trend of the season. Why not let little ones illustrate wrapping paper for relatives — all you need is craft paper and lots of imagination.

To try this hack at home, we recommend ordering personalised gift ribbons. We can create any message you want, all we need is your information by December 9th and we can process your order in time for Santa’s sleigh.

  1. Back to nature

Look out for all things natural making an appearance under the tree this year. Adorn your parcels with cuttings of festive foliage like fir trees or sprigs of rosemary. Pine cones, berries and natural fabrics like wool are all part of the trend. Try pairing these with printed wrapping paper or wicker baskets — they can be easily updated with quality ribbons (and the basket becomes part of the present too!)

  1. Opulent embellishment

For the more glamorous giftee, a great hack is to decorate plain craft paper with sequins and glitter to achieve a glossy look. Craft box looking a little empty? Then unused pom-poms, jewellery and gems can also add some sparkle. For a fashion forward finish, contrast with a simplistic ribbon.

  1. Rustic meets luxe

Sheet music, newsprint and vintage maps get upcycled with our next thrifty tip. Layer them with re-purposed fabric to create a gorgeous mix of textures that will definitely get you on Santa’s good list! Planet-friendly and purse-friendly, what’s not to love?

  1. Handcrafted and homemade

Thrifters rejoice! The trendiest gift to give this year is the one you make yourself. Gooey chocolate chip cookies in a vintage tin, colourful fruit baskets, or their favourite sweet treats in a glass jar… the possibilities are endless. We’ve gone for retro classic chocolate coins.

For a professional looking twist, did you know you can order a set of ribbons from us printed with a Christmas message? If you’re a store, these are ideal to add a special touch to your product wrapping, or for a vintage feel to hangers.
