Our top tips for branding success
If our recent blog posts have encouraged you to set up your own business, you may be wondering how you can take your venture to the next level. The answer is simple – it’s all about branding.
A strong brand identity can elevate your products and add a sense of professionalism to handmade designs. Designing your own branding may seem like a daunting prospect, so we’ve put together our best tips for you from our 50 years of industry know-how.
Create a consistent colour palette
The best place to start with branding is colour. Our advice is to stick to two or three colours that truly represent your brand – any more and your branding won’t be as easy to recognise. This can be confusing for customers. There’s a world of fun to be had with colour and it’s a great opportunity to get creative with some mood boards. We can even Pantone-match colours to get you that perfect shade on printed and woven labels.
Keep it simple
Coming up with your logo can seem like a mammoth task, and we understand the pressure to get it perfect (you wouldn’t want to have to change it after a couple of months!). Our mantra ‘keep it simple’ never fails. Try out a few different versions and don’t forget to ask for opinions from your nearest and dearest.
Here’s how you’ll know you got it right… you’ll absolutely love it.
Try out different textures
The only thing that’s more fun than choosing your colour palette is choosing your fabric. With so many to choose from, it all depends on the look you want to achieve. We have ranges of premium fabrics from cotton to satin, and also offer specialist materials like jacron and various metals.

Take the next step and order your labels
You’ve chosen your colours and your logo has been perfected. The next step is to test your branding out – will it work with your website and look great next to your products?
If so, the job’s a good’un and this is when you need to drop us a line. We’ll take care of the manufacturing process and ship your branding to you pronto.
Once you’ve teamed your branding with your garments, extend it to social media. If you’re an Instagram fan, you could use similar tonal backgrounds and the same filter each time you post. Before you know it, you’ll have created yourself a nice online portfolio with minimal effort. Happy days.
Celebrate on social media
All those hours you’ve put in getting your branding spot on deserves to be rewarded with a glass of bubbly or two.
Grab some friends, food and fizz and you’ve got yourself a launch party. Don’t forget to document it on your Instagram story or Snapchat.
If you’re feeling particularly social media savvy, you could celebrate the launch of your new look with giveaways and discounts. Alternatively, send some products out to your favourite bloggers. Before you know it, you’ll have created some branding buzz. Sorted.
